Only one game dropped as she withdrew the Wang Qiang 6-1 6-0 in the US Open quarter-finals of China.
It was Williams’ 100th success at the US Open, and in 45 minutes the fastest at this season’s tournament.
Williams wasn’t bothered by the ankle as she powered past 18th-seeded Qiang to move to a Grand Slam singles decoration that is 24th she wrapped in her previous match.
Williams won the first five matches in around 15 minutes. Next, after falling one game, the 37-year-old gathered the next 11 points in a row along with every game.
Williams will face No 5 seed Elina Svitolina for a berth in the last, and ended to zero for Wang, who was playing in her first.
“From when I first began here… I never believed that I would return to 100,” Williams said of her success landmark.
“did not even cross my mind I would still be out here. But I love everything I do.”
The American reported the ankle she gathered during her fourth-round match was not an issue:”Physically, I am feeling great, and more than anything I am having fun each time I come out .”
